Maestro!

Pavarotti!

The eyes the window of the soul;

Hazel brown eyes sparkle and smile.

The face, the mask, that hides a talent;

A personality expressed in voice.

Stage presence is evident in stature,

Lyrical presence is sculptured with tone.

Character is brought to the fore

with apparent ease and with a sense of intonation.

An illustrious career well recorded;

sometimes shunned, but on the whole greatly loved.

In concert with many who are not operatic,

patience and support are blended with encouragement.

Music is the challenge tested and tried

Adapted to bring together different mediums of expression.

Tolerance is converted to temperance by the gifted Tenor.

La Scala!

The venue, the boiling pot, the most critical of censures.

Here the man found acceptance and recognition.

Modena forgot the humility that drove success.

'The prophet is not accepted in his home town.'

There is a truth that would stifle greatness.

Artists struggle often, search for succour and support;

Some fail, fall away and are lost forever.

Three Tenors!

What significance in the matching of such artisans?

Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti;

Who would rank them?

Who is qualified to separate their interaction?

Commercialism in art is common and every artiste craves appreciation.

These three should be welcomed for their stance.

A life that enfolds a musical career;

The challenge of rejection overcome;

Resounds across a broad spectrum;

Brings results of the highest calibre.

The average man may appreciate the presentation

Without benefit of classical education.

Surely the love of music comes in its sharing;

The thrill of touching every soul must have its reward.

History is often silenced when revolution occurs;

Those who are touched by its circumstance

Evolve and in turn may bring promise.

In every aspect there is change.

The chorus and the aria will make its mark.

Fittingly it should be remembered that leadership comes in many forms.

In this arena 'Maestro' is a title of respect.

This man Pavarotti is qualified and is one of greater embodiment.
