JESUS ROSE!
When Man has no hope,
Authorities give him religion.
The ignorant are afraid of the dark,
They follow blindly the lost.
Bondage and slavery held Israel
To the servitude of Pharaoh!
Release and freedom were painful,
The price of free will frightening.
The law given, in ten commandments;
Set the parameters for conduct;
Established a system for moral control,
Allowed for activity and development.
Servitude has been the means of restriction;
The threat of Hades and the Apocalypse.
The innocent condemned by ignorance,
The fear of Purgatory a sweeping conviction.
Knowledge alone is not lethal,
Or threatening; it is its use,
Or lack thereof the most painful,
And diabolically shortcoming.
Ancient civilizations named their own gods;
Selected their own responsibilities,
From Kali and the Jinn in the mystic east,
To Zeus, Gitchi Manitou and Thor from west to north.
Were the names given self descriptive?
Each characteristic particular to their own.
Were the powers expressed limited?
No one god all encompassing and supreme.
Illogical is the lack of presence,
Of those who would be master;
Where no glimpse is caught, or given,
By the immortal whose ego would demand recognition.
Omnipotent! Alpha and Omega! One God!
How can there be more than one present,
To occupy that same space,
To flow through time and event?
Would Zeus and Jupiter be the Father of lesser gods?
Would they look for some from of parentage?
Would a God who has identified one people,
Play games to impress the menial?
Man has been allowed to grow!
His vine must be cultivated,
Sometimes pruned, sometimes transplanted,
Allowed to reach outward to the world.
The blossoms in the right season
Proclaim new birth, the bloom,
Seen before the resulting fruit;
The seed of new beginning.
Do we bloom before we can grow?
Firstly the root must be strong,
Anchored in silt, clay or sand,
The foundation through which all strength will flow.
The stock expands its girth,
To branch out its foliage,
A presence, physical and far reaching,
Each a point of interest and development.
The passage of animal, bird and insect,
Brush by; a momentary interest.
Each taking or leaving as they need;
Brief encounter, brief experience.
How important the purity of atmosphere?
The quality of fresh air, of cool breeze.
Is the rain the only moisture that sustains?
What will be the life source?
Will the withered be renewed?
Can the contaminated be cleaned?
Are the dead and the dying to be discarded?
Will the darkness entomb all?
The flower wilts in the dark!
The root lies dormant, if not fed!
The energy within soon consumed,
The final struggle, the last!
The cellar for storage, unlike the tomb,
Periodically is emptied, re-stored.
The seed is the shell of new beginning;
Is the body of the same substance?
Does the corpse wither and die?
It returns to the character of the soil.
Dust to dust; ashes to ashes!
Death claims the nature of the living.
The gods of the past have not come to the present.
They have not offered or confirmed new life.
None have experienced or demonstrated mortality,
The way of Man insignificant, except to One!
Christ may be a great myth;
Written of by many; defended and died for.
Aesop in his fable has not glorified any,
The heroes of those tales are long gone.
A God of wisdom and compassion,
Has given life beyond flesh and blood.
The pain of mortality has been experienced,
Renewal and rebirth a possibility.
Life style can be amended!
Personal growth and satisfaction can be obtained.
The spirit exists and can be nurtured,
By its evolution it feeds the body!
Jesus arose!
The tomb neither a cell nor a prison.
Death itself, a doorway, opened,
Overcome by a power, far-reaching and greater,
Life; bitter or sweet!
Long or short; empty or full!
Christ is not awaiting our death;
He leads the way through life!
Humanity, like the vine, can grow.
Words can command action.
Sustenance of the spirit the blooming,
The beauty of the flower a grand show!
