What Luck!

What Luck!

Two words synonymous with the unanimous.

How could we see,

only one cherished Ronnie B?

Yes, Ronnie Barker it must be.

Two Ronnies, a life span of comedy.

Each with his own personality.

Together ham and cheese

yet individually unique as two peas.

Remarkable the character epitomized

in Porridge, villain  and hero;

Satirized by events tragic and ironic,

calling for the cheer for the underdog.

‘Open all hours,’ has subtle hardware.

Whereas Fletch knows his screws

Arkwright can dish out his porridge.

Both caught in comical genius.

Ronnie B. appears as mentor.

Quizzical quips stretch his colleagues.

Resulting in great buds in May

and spot on detection, both are class acts.

Comedy is worth living for!

Partnerships take much more.

The result is in the mix.

England would be a sadder place without two Ronnies.

Recognition is well deserved.

A life devoted shows devotion.

To write and to act for the visionary

is a condensed and considerable talent.

Good wine matures with age.

Good comedy is already matured.

To Ronnie Barker time should be kind

and laughter will continue

to explode under his spell.
