Nickels and Dimes

A man is worthy the price of his labour!

Who will set the standard?

What coinage is the bench mark?

What value is absolute?

John Ruskin once said ...

“It is unwise to pay too much, but it is worse to pay too little.

When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that’s all.

When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything...”

Small sums can be accumulated and spent for a good return,

yet honesty will ask at whose price?

Nickels and dimes individually do little,

together they collectively contribute to profit.

To whom will you trust your savings?

Who will earn your trust?

The moneychanger determines your exchange.

Gold and Silver are traded for nickel and copper.

Political influence benefits those most political.

It is unwise to be astute if you lack presence,

it is unwise to be erudite if you cannot be influent.

The coinage of your commerce can be diverged.

A man with will power may not control his own stupidity.

The antagonist will be easily led.

The sheep to be stolen will be slaughtered

by the frightened who claim to be shepherd.

Leaders may be elected as the people’s representative;

Often, representatives elected are not leaders.

Likewise they do not represent their peoples,

indeed they are short sighted beyond the myopic.

The labourer is not valued by those who do not understand value.

The exquisite is a development of the simple,

the craftsman builds upon the basic,

by design his nature is integral of his background.

Quality of character is a quantity of humanity.

Great things can evolve from great beginnings.

Concern is a strength and action is preferable.

Compassion can be rewarding and it can reward!

The common is overlooked because of its abundance.

Scarcity of the coveted prompts the expending of great energy.

Without the presence of the most proliferate

there would be no treasure to be pursued.

Mankind may be dispensed of as the slurry tipped as waste product.

There is a responsibility for the miner to protect himself in his environment.

The rules dictate caution to ensure continuity of production,

and from the rough the most precious gemstone is extracted.

For what purpose are those nickels manufactured?

The coinage as a form of exchange is also a by-product

to put to good use the labour of those most willing

and in its composition it extends some degree of purpose.

Jobs bring appreciation, providing they have merit!

The individual needs to be challenged and given a chance to grow,

a chance to mature and to reach his optimum.

Rewards given and accepted must also reflect a point of triumph.

Serfdom is not the equitable development of peoples!

The element of work as a tool cannot fare as an idle ploy,

wherein irresponsible leadership dribbles away the human soul.

Many slaves, so treated, have arisen and by nature conquer.

Government cannot create jobs, but those who govern can dispense favours.

Policy for the few discredits the majority.

Inaction is as irresponsible as is unfair retaliation

to the detriment of those least able to comprehend!

Knowledge and education are highly priced and highly valued!

These commodities are indeed the building blocks,

the prerequisite for the advancement of any society.

They are ineffective, likewise to the composition of currency hoarded, not shared!

It is a good thing to put into circulation that which has merit.

The capitalization of the greatest asset can provide,

proviso upon a responsible distribution of its use;

hence the monetary return will equate the invested interest.
