AWAKEN.

We are here for the dead!

Irreverence; Constant conversation;

They cannot hear you!

No! We are here for the living!

To reflect, to remember, to leave;

Our sorrows, our grief, shared.

The body; Now lifeless, decaying;

Enclosed in a casket, shrouded;

An image, once active; Dormant!

The light having played slips;

From shadow into deeper shadow;

An essence; Passing, flickering.

Joy has been given with vibrancy!

To life's daily challenge;

The result that each of us chooses.

We leave an impression; Sometimes

Favourable, friendly, caring;

We decide by our action, our emotion.

For those who stand nearby;

Are memories precious? Significant?

A reflection to repeat the past!

Do we wait until death?

To be accepted! Even appreciated!

Can we be substantial? Unless we die?

We should remember; As we are reminded;

Love and friendship given together;

To be thankful; To enjoy smiling;

Freedom, is for those who understand!

To be themselves; They accept others!

Always brightening each day; Timely!

The words which are spoken;

Lead to one intent of understanding;

To the mind and heart receiving.

How right are each one?

Thoughts are crystalline;

Clear or opaque;

Sometimes absorbed by the welcome vessel;

Or rejected by barriers of self.

Awaken slumberous voices! Rise to the morn!

Praises; Reach out and overcome spirit forlorn!

The call resounds to lift your love;

Exude thoughts; Focus on God above.

My life has been offered; A gift;

A sacrifice to many; Of memories; They are left!
